Do we need any hardware at all?

No. An agent on each machine and an internet connection is the entire requirement — there is no backup server to buy, size, house or replace.

Where is the backup data stored?

In a storage region we agree with you before deployment. If you have data residency requirements, tell us at the start and it becomes part of the design.

How long would restoring a server take?

It depends on your download speed and the size of the machine. A file share or a laptop is quick; a large server over a modest line is measured in hours. We work this out with you rather than leaving you to discover it.

Is it enough for Microsoft 365 on its own?

For most SMEs, yes. Microsoft protects its platform, not your content decisions — a mailbox deleted by a leaver is your responsibility, and default retention is shorter than most people assume.

Can we hold the encryption key ourselves?

Yes, and some customers require it. Understand the trade-off first: if you hold the only key and lose it, nobody can recover the backups, including us.
